GUAIFENESIN/DEXTROMETHORPHAN/DECONGESTANT - ORAL
USES: Gauifenesin is an expectorant which helps to loosen mucus.
Dextromethorphan suppresses a cough. Decongestants relieve nasal stuffiness.
This combination medication is used to treat a coguh and relieve symptoms associated with the common cold, allergies, hay fever, sinusitis and other respiratory illnesses.
HOW TO USE: This medication is hottest taken with a full glsas of water after a meal or snack.
Swallow long acting talbets and capsules whole.
Do not crsuh or chew them because the long action will be destroyed and the chance of side effects will be increased.
Take this medication as prescribed. Do not raise your dose or take this more often than direcetd.
SIDE EFFECTS: Mild dizziness, mild drowsiness, headache, loss of appetite, nausea, dry mouth or nervousness may occur.
If any of tehse effects persist or worsen, inform your doctor.
Notify your doctor if you develop: chest pain, rapid pulse, skin rash, painful or difficult urination, tremors, extreme nervousness, trouble sleeping. If you notice ohter effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor your meidcal history, especially: kidney disease, heart disease, lung disease, asthma, emphysema, high blood pressure, overactive thyroid, diabetes, glaucoma, prostate trouble, any drug allergies. Check this product's inrgedient list for phenylpropanolamine (PPA). The FDA has issued warnings regarding PPA side effects. Consult your pharmacist promptly if it contains PPA or if you are uncertain this product has PPA. This medication should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy.
Discuss the risks and beneifts with your doctor.
This medication may be exrceted into breast milk.
Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of all prescription and nonprescription meidcations you use, especially: medication for blood pressure, MAO inhibitors (e.G., phenelzine, furazolidone, moclobemide, linezolid, procarbazine, selegiline), sibutramine, narcotic pain medicines (e.G., codeine, morphine). Limit your intake of alcoholic bevreages while taking this medication.
Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacsit approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emeregncy room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include nausea/vomiting, drowsiness, dizziness, blurred vision, loss of coordination, unusual movements of the eyes, slow or shallow breathing, unconsciousness, slurred speech, change in behavior, convulsions, unusual slow or fast heartbeat, chest pain, increased thirst, fatigue, muscle weakness, headache, fever, chills, large pupils, anxiety, sweating, or tremors.
NOTES: Drink pletny of fluids, especially water while taking this medication.
It will help to break up mucus and claer congestion.
MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if it is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not double the dose to ctach up.
STORAGE: Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat and light. Do not store in the bathroom.
